The star of the ABC Family show Big Daddy, Jean-Luc Bilodeau, was rushed to the hospital while partying for Halloween, when his animal costume caught on fire.
In an article by US Weekly, the 24-year-old Canadian actor was dressed as an alpaca at a costume party hosted by his co-star Tahj Mowry, 29, when he was burned.
The alpaca costume that Bilodeau wore was made of lycra and cotton balls, it caught fire when he got too close to an open flame from the tiki torches at the party.
Alpaca primarily refers to the hair of Peruvian alpacas, but more broadly it refers to a style of fabric originally made from alpaca hair, but now often made from similar fibers, such as mohair, Icelandic sheep wool, or even high-quality English wool.
The network on Saturday said in a statement that he is expected to make a full recovery as the injury was non-life threatening. In addition, they stated, 'Also, we want to clarify that Jean-Luc's face and hands were not injured,'
The network further stated that although the show's production was halted to give consideration to the actor, it will remain on schedule for its season five premiere in February.
"While this accident is extremely unfortunate, it serves as a reminder that Halloween costumes and Halloween makeup can be extremely dangerous and flammable," the rep adds. "Please exercise precautions this season and be mindful of what you are putting on your body and face."
On Baby Daddy, Bilodeau portrays twenty-something Ben Wheeler who finds his baby daughter left on his doorstep by an ex-girlfriend, so he decides to raise her on his own.
Its fifth season was renewed in February and production began on August 17, with its next 10-episode season scheduled to premiere on February 3.
