Gay Waitress Stiffed Update: Server Under Suspicion By Restaurant and Called A Lair By Co-Workers

Dayna Morales, the waitress who accused a family of leaving an anti-gay note rather than a tip, is no longer working at the Gallop Asian Bistro, in Bridgewater, New Jersey.

The restaurant's announced on their Facebook page that Morales was no longer on the employee schedule and that the incident was still under investigation.

"Ms. Morales is currently not on our employee schedule while are still working to complete our investigation," the restaurant wrote.

According to USA Today, former co-workers said Morales had been caught in multiple lies. The former Marine reportedly told co-workers she shaved her head because she had brain cancer, but later said her friend had brain cancer not her.

After Superstorm Sandy, Morales reportedly told friends and co-workers her home was severely damaged her home in Stony Point, and that a boat crushed into her living room. During a visit to her home co-workers reportedly found damages to the carpet by her front door.

"Every story she comes up with has a lie," Julie Howat, 23, of Pomona, N.Y., told USA Today. "Any tragedy that happened, she had to be a part of it... She needed sympathy and empathy."

Grubstreet reported Morales, a Marine veteran, served in Iran and Afghanistan. A source told NBC News that Morales was dishonorably discharged in May becuase she stopped showing up for drills.

According to NBC News, the family, who Morales said were the patrons who left the message, claim they did not write the note and actually left a $18 tip for the waitress. The couple exclusively showed NBC a copy of their credit card statement, which showed they were charged $111.55, form the restaurant. Previous reports showed that the posted bill was $93.55 total.

Morales claimed the family left a message on the bill stating:

"I'm sorry but I cannot tip because I do not agree with your lifestyle and how you live your life"

The couple said they believed their receipt was used for a hoax and that they believe in the value of tipping restaurant workers. Morales has reportedly received $1,700 in tips from people around the world and has been donating some of the money to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Restaurant manager Byron Lapola told Courier-News the restaurant will not comment until the investigation is complete.
