Mexican singer Larry Hernandez was arrested due to an outstanding warrant on September at the Ontorio airport, according to police records.
Charges included kidnapping and assault, allegedly of a concert promoter, who went on to report the incident to authorities.
His alleged brutal crimes are serious enough that his passport has been taken, too.
38-year-old, singer made his first court appearance on October 23 in South Carolina and has been freed on a $200.000 bail after being extradited to South Carolina.
“They kidnapped him, they beat him…He wants justice done because we do not want there to be another report that, instead of kidnapping, says murder,” said Alejandro Andrade, the brother of Larry’s alleged victim Jose Andrade.
Larry Hernandez made a name for himself belting out ballads about Mexico's criminal underworld.
It wasn't long before the singer became a reality TV star with his own show, "Larrymania," billed by NBC Universo as an unscripted series that "reveals the behind-the-scenes life of the unstoppable artist with no filter."
The number of fans following the lives of Hernandez, his fiancée and their four children grew so big that officials observed a hasty uptake of girls in the United States with the same name as his daughter, Daleyza.
He was transferred to Newberry, South Carolina to face kidnapping charges after nine days of being released from a Southern California jail.
One of the recent post links to a news report from NBC Universo's sister network Telemundo, quoted Hernandez's stepfather as saying, "He is a very good person,"Larry's stepfather, Eleazar Ceniceros told Telemundo. "I cannot believe that they have done this to my son."
Unable to speak about the accusations while the case was pending, Hernandez instead thanked his fans for their support.
“As you well know, I am a person who has always been honest and hard-working, showing my face in any situation,” Larry said. “That is why I am asking you to be patient. As soon as I can I will respond and clarify any doubts about it. They are slanderous lies, as time will tell.”
Larry's charges are related to an incident that occurred in Newberry, South Carolina on August 16, 2015, after a performance.
Allegedly, Hernandez was not happy with his payment for the performance, and he and another man assaulted a friend of the performance organizer.
They then forced him to Hernandez's hotel room and continued the assault in an attempt to gain more money from the organizer.
