McDonald's has just announced that they are currently testing Monster drinks in 20 of its 14,000 restaurants in the United States. The said move of the fast food restaurant shows that they are now trying to adapt the trend of changing tastes.
As CBS News reported, the world's largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants are now having an experiment on marketing Monster Energy Drinks to the 20 restaurants in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio.
According to McDonald's, a lot of their customers are now interested in energy drinks, that's why they have decided to test the type of beverages in their store. This is despite the fact that the fast food chain is already selling caffeinated drinks like coffee and Coca-Cola.
In an email, Lisa McComb stated that it's the culture of McDonald's to bring together the feedback of their beloved consumers.
"We're always gathering feedback from customers on the food and beverages they'd like to be served at McDonald's and this is another example," stated by the McDonald's representative.
A report from The Daily Meal stated that the said experiment is the response of McDonald's decreasing sales all over the U.S. Earlier this month, a certain survey has revealed that the fast food restaurant is struggling to cope up with the demand in serving the all-day breakfast to the customers, which eventually caused a significant drop in their market value.
McDonald's is also striving to develop a new "taste" of their foodstuffs by toasting the hamburger buns for a longer period of time and searing the meat in different manner. According to the restaurant, the new methods will make their food more appetizing and tasty.
On the other hand, the endorsement of McDonald's for the energy drink will offer much benefits to Monster. Monster Beverage Corp which is located in Corona, California is a company known for its caffeinated drinks.
Even though some suggested that caffeinated drinks should be banned to consumers below 18, Monster stated that their caffeine content is much less compared to other coffeehouse chain like Starbucks.
