The fast food world is experiencing a first in select Swedish McDonald's branches. For a limited time, patrons can actually book a table with the number one restaurant in the country. The reason for this is the brand new offering from McDonald's that the company would like to debut with a bang: the Maestro Classic.
"We wanted to give our most loyal customers a unique and memorable experience when they try the Maestro hamburger for the very first time. They've never had the opportunity to 'book a table' at their favorite restaurant in Sweden. With the new Maestro burger, we thought it was the right time to give them a chance to do so," McDonald's Sweden Director of Marketing Jeff Jackett shared on PSFK.
Through Bookatable, customers were able to start seat reservations as early as September 15. The limited no-waiting-at-the-counter from McDonald's Sweden will run from September 25 to October 2 only. Lucky patrons who get a table will be served a two-course meal with the Maestro Classic as the main course. The table reservations are being honored in 31 branches across the Nordic nation.
"It was a natural choice to team up with McDonald's Sweden to help them launch this globally pioneering initiative, offering online reservations for a limited period of time. We want to encourage everyone to take this opportunity to experience the new gourmet burger in this special way," shared Jonas Carlén, Bookatable Sweden's Commercial Director.
This latest marketing craze seems well-timed as McDonald's was involved in a few controversies in the country recently. For instance, a branch in Nödinge, in Ale municipality in Västra Götaland, was shuttered following a spate of 30 reported cases of severe illness. Last year, a woman from Malmö purchased a cappuccino that was tainted with cleaning chemicals, The Local reported.
