After months and months of truly poor sales, McDonald's seems to have caught a break at last for the first time in a really long time after they announced they'd be rolling out all-day breakfasts across the United States - but could Burger King breakfast dethrone the new initiative?
For decades, McDonald's and Burger King, the two biggest fast food chains in the world, have been fighting each other to top the market, with the Golden Arches restaurants traditionally taking the top spot until the past months, and it seems its biggest competitor is not above stepping on its biggest enemy when it's down by offering all-day Burger King breakfast.
According to ABC News, while there's no official policy on the chain turning to all-day Burger King breakfasts at this point, there's one restaurant in New Jersey that has been offering morning food all day for a while.
Consumerist reports that this restaurant, specifically located in the borough of Garwood, is actually in front of a McDonald's, which makes this all-day Burger King breakfast offering all the more interesting, as the restaurant advertises as selling items such as French toast, muffins, hash browns, croissants and muffins throughout the day.
According to Tribune Reporter, the Jersey restaurant also sells a breakfast platter for its customers.
This isn't even the first time this month that these two fast food giants take a cue from their competitor, as following Burger King's U.S. release of a black bun Halloween whopper, McDonald's launched their own grey burger, which many have seen as a copycat move.
In all, Burger King's breakfast menu is fairly new, after the chain decided to enter the breakfast menu wars only last year, following the example of not just McDonald's but also Yum! Brands' Taco Bell.
Could an all-day Burger King breakfast turn into a bigger problem for McDonald's in the long run?
