Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, popular hosts of the longest running reality series hit show "Mythbusters", sat down with Entertainment Weekly and told the world that this next season will be their last season on Discovery Channel.
In the exclusive interview with EW, reality kicks in. All good things must come to an end. In their next 14th season (and last), they will be featuring its final experiment. What does Jamie and Adam have to say about it?
Apparently, Savage already knew about the show's ending since early 2015 and went on to say he grieved before he fully accepted the fact that it's inevitable. Savage made sure to make the last season a testament to all the work that they did for the show. They split it into different categories that the fans themselves created since the start of the show.
Hyneman felt it was time to let go - both Savage and Hyneman were executive producers of the show and they want to go out strong. He goes on to say that almost everything he did in the show brought out the kid in him like when he drove the first rocket car in the desert while piloting it from a helicopter.
The marriage of both personalities brought out the science and humor of the show.
Did you know that the pair are not real friends off-screen? Both differ in opinion and perspectives in life. Maybe that's why they make such a great team on-screen. But what they can agree on, the show itself is a legacy on its own. John Luscombe, Beyond Productions general manager, says that the pair literally redefined science in television. It inspired millions of viewers to become engrossed and interested in science (and explosives, and implosives!)
In November 13, 2015, Hyneman and Savage are scheduled to go on the Mythbusters Live tour - both expect it will be their last time together. The final season of Mythbusters will air on January 19, 2016 on the Discovery Channel.
