‘Mythbusters’ 2015: ‘The Simpsons’ Cherry Bomb Toilet Tested By Adam Savage And Jamie Hyneman [VIDEO]

The new year also entails the return of a lot of television's favorite shows, like the 12 year-old Discovery show starring Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman - and now the first trailer shows that "Mythbusters" 2015 will see it looking into a pop culture favorite: the very yellow city of Springfield!

The "Mythbusters 2015" return has been marked for the ages as the first time the experts of ridding the world of urban legends visit one of the most iconic places in American television: "The Simpsons" city of Springfield, where they will be seeing whether things shown in the Fox cartoon are actually possible in real life.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman first came up with the "Mythbusters" 2015 idea of doing a show on "The Simpsons" basically because it's a popular show that everyone has seen (and no surprise there, considering it's been around for 25 years) and they wanted to spice things up in the show.

However, as they worked on the "Simpsons" episode, they realized they'd managed something they hadn't expected: actually making some fun and entertaining television in the process.

"For us the original story isn't as important as what we're going to be learning when we go there," Savage said last Thursday, according to Zap2It. "No one really needs to know whether toilets in Springfield explode when Bart throws a cherry bomb, but the idea of what we think might happen and what actually will happen is the tension that builds every narrative of every 'Mythbusters' episode."

The "Mythbusters" 2015 premiere, dedicated to the famous show about Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson will see the famous mythbusting duo dropping a cherry bomb down a toilet to see if the show follows reality, as well as taking a wrecking ball to a suburban home and see how that goes. In the episode, Al Jean, one of the executive producers of "The Simpsons," will be joining Savage and Hyneman, giving his take on what things are like behind the yellow characters from the long-running animated show.

According to CNet, the "Mythbusters" 2015 season will also come with a few surprises, including testing the stunts in the first Indiana Jones movie, Steven Spielberg's "Raiders of the Lost Ark."
