Aspiring models were saddened after Tyra Banks announced that the reality show 'America's Next Top Model' which she has hosted since 2003 will finally end this season.
After 12 successful years with 22 cycles, the creator and host of the reality series for model wannabes publicized through Twitter that the latest season will be the last for the show. In her tweet, Tyra Banks stated that the 22nd cycle should be their last and that she truly believes that it is the right time to end the show.
The 41-year-old former supermodel who showed the contestants what it takes to be a model, also posted a lengthy message on Instagram concerning about her decision. "Yeah it's time. It really is. Wow, I am SO proud of what Top Model has done. #ANTM brought the intimidating modeling world to the masses. We were the first reality show based in the fashion world. I never thought my little idea would have people everywhere thinking differently about how they take photos. And I never thought we'd do 22 cycles." Tyra wrote.
The ANTM host is known for her signature catchphrases which she introduced on the reality show. Last year, she invented the word "Flawsome" which is defined as someone who is awesome despite of some flaws. "Tooch" and "booch" are among the words invented by Tyra Banks which she were using to explain to the aspiring models how they should behave in a photo shoot.
On the other hand, President Mark Pedowitz of CW responded to Banks' announcement by stating that America's Next Top Model is considered as a successful franchise for UPN and The CW. He also added that the show did not become popular not just because of the ratings but ultimately because of its global pop culture phenomenon.
The reality series started on UPN back in May 2003 with Tyra Banks and Ken Mok as hosts. The series finale is set to be in December 4 but CW said that the episode will be aired late next year.
