On demand delivery start-up services have been gaining popularity. One of the many start-ups that has established and collaborated with many restaurants is Postmates. The company aims to deliver meals as quickly as possible and the it has promised to serve better and have launched a new app, Postmates Pop, that will deliver your meals under 15 minutes.
As reported in Eater, the new app has been launched in San Francisco's SoMa neighbourhood and targets to deliver meals in 15 minutes or less. The food deliver service is performing better than expected with less than seven minutes delivery time in the early going. Users can order their meals via the Postmates app.
The food delivery start-up company is known to partner with local restaurants to deliver highly curated and unique meals. The whole concept may sound similar to UberEATS. The latter operates during lunch hours in selected areas across the country and aims to deliver meals in 10 minutes. However unlike UberEATS, Postmates' service is not limited to selected neighbourhoods in cities as its market expands. One reason pointed out is that Postmates cuts out the pick-up time by having the drivers start the day with an inventory of dishes in special heated food containers. While UberEATS system starts with drivers taking the orders, then pick up the meals and finally deliver them to customers.
Some of the offers in Pop menu are tuna Panzanella salad from A16, super healthy salad from Jane, warrior sandwich from Irving Subs and New Orleans-style iced coffee from Blue Bottle. There have been no comments as to how the food holds up being cooped up inside the delivery car over lunch hours. According to Postmates' spokesperson, "Each driver carries a limited supply in order to guarantee freshness and speed."
Meanwhile the delivery charge for Postmates Pop is $1.99, which is a dollar cheaper than its competitor. Most of its lunch offers are priced around $10. The spokesperson hinted on expanding the menu to include dinner and special menu for "Friday Date Night" that would include wine and curated dishes.
This is a convenient way to make sure you maintain a healthy diet without sacrificing a lot of time. Would you try the Postmates Pop app? Do you think it's worth it? Share us your thoughts by leaving your comments below.
