Natalie Portman is joining the boys' club of comic books and Marvel Universal movies.
Portman, who stars in the upcoming "Thor: The Dark World" made comments that suggest the mother of one will be getting her chance to dress up as a superhero.
"There are definitely many strong [Marvel] women, but it will be exciting when there is a central female character, which I think is coming, I have heard is coming," she told SciFiNow. "And, of course, also a central non-white character will also be exciting.
"But they do definitely have strong female characters in them and I think it's a testament to the people who run Marvel, their respect, their just normal human respect for women, the way they want to characterize them; you can tell when men talk to you, as just a person or as a 'woman,'" she said.
Portman stars in the second installment of Thor with actor Chris Hemsworth.
The sequel was originally meant to be the first superhero blockbuster directed by a woman, Patty Jenkins. However, the gig went to "Game of Thrones" Alan Taylor instead.
"I was very upset because Patty is a wonderful woman" Portman told SciFiNow. "I was excited to work with her but I understood why she chose to leave and Alan is really wonderful, so it was bittersweet."
If Portman does dress up she will not be the only female superhero to his the big screen.
According to the Christian Science Monitor, the upcoming installments of Marvel Universal movies will introduce characters like Falcon in "Captain America:The Winter Soldier" and then "Scarlet Witch in The Avengers: Age of Ultron."
"Thor: The Dark World" hits theaters Nov. 8.
