Nostalgic 90s fans have one more thing to be happy about besides classic shows like "Full House" and "Twin Peaks" currently filming reboots as there's another franchise getting a new look with a few signs of what's coming: the first "Power Rangers" cast member has just been announced!
English actress Naomi Scott, who starred as Maddy Shannon in the sci-fi series "Terra Nova" and was most recently with Matt Damon on Ridley Scott's "The Martian," has just been officially confirmed to be joining the "Power Rangers" cast, the first performer to surely be in the upcoming 2017 reboot.
The announcement that Scott is joining the "Power Rangers" cast comes only a few days after the first rumors of possible actor options were leaked, and it had been reported that Naomi was a frontrunner for the role of the Pink Ranger alongside Stephanie Scott.
According to Deadline, Scott was announced as part of the "Power Rangers" cast via social media, as the upcoming film's official Instagram posted a picture of the 22 year-old actress, announcing she would be playing the Pink Ranger, although the actual name of the character wasn't specified so it's unclear whether she'll be Kimberly Hart, the character Amy Jo Johnson played on "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers."
As The Mirror reports, further news about the "Power Rangers" cast will have to wait for another while, but there's one thing confirmed: Jason David Frank, who played Green Ranger Tommy Oliver, has said that he will "for sure" be in the reboot, at least having a cameo - though he couldn't say much as the project is very secretive as of this point.
According to Empire Online, writing team Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz were responsible for the reboot's screenplay, with "Star Trek" writer Roberto Orci checking the story's structure.
Expect more "Power Rangers" cast news soon!
