Ubisoft Reveals Far Cry Primal, Set in 10,000 BC

Ubisoft is taking Far Cry into the Stone Age. The French gaming publisher has just revealed the next entry in their best-selling open world shooter franchise dubbed Far Cry: Primal.

The game is set in 10,000 BC and puts you in the shoes of Takkar, a skilled hunter who must expand his tribe while braving the dangers of the harsh prehistoric wilderness. It's official description reads:

'Welcome to the Stone Age, a time of extreme danger. When giant mammoths and sabretooth tigers ruled the Earth, and humanity was at the bottom of the food chain. As the last survivor of your hunting group, you will learn to craft a deadly arsenal, fend off fierce predators, and outsmart enemy tribes to conquer the land of Oros and become the Apex Predator.'

Mother Nature will play a key role in the latest installment. The game's announcement trailer showcased a team of hunters carefully stalking a herd of Mammoths; using ambient noise to track their prey. We also got to look at some of the predators the game will feature when a Sabretooth Tiger attacked the group.

Other features unique to Primal listed in the game's official website include:

- Stalk enemy outposts and plan your attack using weapons and tools crafted from the bones of beasts you've killed.
- Master the element of fire to multiply your tactical options, setting your weapon on fire or scaring predators at night.
- Land the killing blow on the prey you've hunted across the plains. But beware, its scent may attract predators willing to fight you for the prize.

The game is releasing in early 2016. It arrives on Playstation 4 and Xbox One on February 26, 2016 while a PC launch will follow sometime in March.
