What Did Rooney Mara Think of Her Sister Kate's Fantastic Four Flop?

The struggles of the latest Fantastic Four film are by no means a secret. The movie was one of the biggest bombs in summer history, grossing just $160 million worldwide. It was also savaged by critics and currently sits at an abysmal 27% on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

The movie's failure has caused some of its cast members to hold off on viewing the final cut entirely. Kate Mara, who plays Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman in the film, has often joked to the press about not seeing the film yet. She told the Times UK recently:

"You don't always have to learn some incredible life lesson when making a s*** movie. Sometimes it's just what happens."

She also spoke of the difficulties involved in making the film, saying:

"It was a tricky shoot, but you know...When you know when you're shooting it that a film isn't going to be what you want it to be? That was not the case at all."

Despite her reluctance to go out and see it, it looks like some members of the Mara family are still supportive of her work. Kate's sister and fellow actress Rooney, had a recent chat with Cinema Blend where she gave her thoughts on the film:

Of course I saw it. I mean, I think she's great in it, yeah. I don't really want to comment about it, but yeah, I saw it opening night and I thought she was great.

Rooney's little critique is hardly a five star review, but it's certainly among the nicest things anyone's ever said about the film.

Regardless, it looks like both sisters have put the negativity behind them and are focusing on their current projects.

Kate can currently be seen in Ridley Scott's sci-fi thriller The Martian which is in theatres now. Rooney on the other hand, has roles in Joe Wright's Peter Pan reimagining Pan and Todd Hayes' 50's period romance Carol, opposite Cate Blanchett.
