Marvel Studios hasn't held back when it comes to movie crossovers. Over the course of the cinematic universe, we've seen heroes from across the Marvel roster pop up in each other's films to varying degrees of success. But despite all the guest appearances, the franchises' main teams have yet to interact.
Every comic book fan would love to see the Avengers cross paths with the Guardians of the Galaxy but plot restrictions obviously make it a little tougher to execute than your average cameo. Regardless, there's at least one actor who's holding out hope for an eventual meeting between the two forces.
Former WWE champion turned action star Dave Bautista, who plays the menacing alien Drax from Guardians, recently voiced his desire for a collaboration. He told Screen Rant:
It's rumors right now, but, you know, I pray every day...and night, and afternoon, and after you walk out the door I'll go pray and say, "Please let Drax be in 'The Avengers.' " [Laughter] Yeah, I hope it'll happen.
Marvel has already set November 2018 and March 2019 as the dates for the all-encompassing Infinity War saga. Those two films will no doubt present the best chance of seeing the two squads join forces.
Thanos and his quest for the Infinity Stones are the one element that unites both the Earth bound exploits of Captain America and Iron-Man with the intergalactic travails of Thor and the Guardians.
For now, fans will have to be content with the usual slate of cross overs. Marvel's next film Captain America: Civil War, is shaping up to become Avengers 2.5. Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, and Scarlet Witch are just some of the names confirmed for the film. In addition to this, Black Panther and Spider-Man are expected to make their MCU debuts.
The film comes out on May 5, 2016.
