A new study shows that Apple's iOS ad blockers not only remove unnecessary and disturbing ads, but also help users save money and time.
In a study conducted by The New York Times (NYT), it was discovered that people who use the iOS 9 ad blockers can take handful of benefits. Findings show that it can enhance battery life, reduce data usage and lower loading times which means the user can, in effect, save time and money.
NYT conducted the study by testing and assessing 50 new websites. For four days, NYT members used different ad blockers apps to iPhones in order to see which ad blocker software can block the ads faster, producing a much improved loading times.
Battery life was also checked to see which ad blocker app performs best.
The study shows that the ad-blocker from Safari offers a good performance to the point that a user can save up to $10 per month in ad data storage. Battery life were also enhanced at about 21 percent.
In a statement, NYT stated the performance of iOS ad blockers during the test.
"More than half of all data came from ads and other content filtered by ad blockers. Not all of the news websites were equal," NYT said in relation to the result of the study.
Furthermore, iOS ad blockers can offer the consumer a much faster web page loading time due to its ability to remove the non-essential ads which contain intensive data.
In general, ad blockers can also help not only those consumers but also to ad makers. Dean Murphy, the person who made and developed the ad-blocking app Crystal said that the different blocking software can inspire the add publishers to produce advertisements that offer less taxes on mobile devices.
Although ad blocking software have its obvious benefits, this programs also have its own drawbacks and limitations like they tend to make some online shopping carts faulty.
