As much as the "hills are alive in the sound of music," Julie Andrews is very much vibrant as she turned 80 last Thursday.
Having spent six fantastic decades acting - from being the first Eliza Doolittle on Broadway in My Fair Lady when she was 21 to voicing Princess Fiona's mom, Queen Lillian, in all of the Shrek movies, it undeniable that she has a longlist of fans because of her versatility in the performing arts.

#1 Her role as Mary Poppins:
"Practically perfect in every way," indeed! This was her feature film debut in 1964 that won her an Oscar for Best Actress for her role as the flyest nanny ever!
#2 Her role as Maria in The Sound of Music:
Following her success in Mary Poppins, the four-octave soprano made those hills come alive in 1965, playing the role of an aspiring nun - which landed her a Golden Globe for Best Actress. Not bad for a tough governess of the Alps!
#3 Her role as a Queen in The Princess Diaries:
Well, she played a queen the way only Julie Andrews can! It must have been hard for millennials to reconcile the fact that she was just acting back then! She was a natural to play Queen Clarisse of Genovia, the grandmother of Anne Hathaway's role, Mia Thermopolis.
#4 Leaving Lady Gaga Star Struck at 2015 Oscars:
Gaga did get the only necessary seal of approval of any performer in the planet after performing a surprisingly an on the spot tribute to The Sound of Music at the 87th Academy Awards when Andrews surprised, well, everyone by joining her on stage.
One more fact, Julie Andrews was also made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth in 2000. How cool is that?
