Katherine Heigl is looking to make a TV comeback.
Heigl, who played Dr. "Izzie" Stevens on ABC hit "Grey's Anatomy," is hoping to star in a new, untitled CIA drama. NBC is among the networks negotiating for the project, according to USA Today.
Deadline reported the 34-year-old actress might star as an adviser/communications liaison for the President in the series. The show would focus on "how the CIA handles hotspots around the globe."
Heigl will also be an executive producer on the drama, which is currently in the script stage. According to Yahoo TV, the series is being written by Alexi Hawley, who has background as a writer-producer on ABC's "Body of Proof" and "Castle". Producer Robert Simonds ("The Pink Panther") had been developing the project with Hawley.
In 2010 Heigl parted ways with "Greys" after five years; saying she wanted to spend more time with her adopted daughter, Naleigh, and husband Josh Kelley.
The mother of one has starred in films such as "Knocked Up" and "27 Dresses". She tried to return to the ABC series, and even asked producer Shonda Rhimes about revisiting the character. That never happened.
"I've told them I want to," Heigl told E! News while promoting her 2010 movie "One for the Money." "I don't know... Being a show runner and being a writer of a TV series like that is so complicated that I mean she's got how many characters are there now? There's a lot and so she's balancing about 40 different storylines, so I don't know if it fits in to their sort of vision for this season or next or however many seasons it goes."
