Serial Is Coming To TV

It looks like Serial is coming to the small screen. The Hollywood Reporter has just announced that the smash hit podcast will be coming to TV courtesy of Fox 21 Studios and the producing duo of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

According to the report, the TV incarnation of Serial will not follow the Adnan Syed story which gripped listeners last year.

Lord and Miller are a hot property in Hollywood at the moment, having put together an impressive resume of projects across multiple genres over the past few years. Their recent successes include The Lego Movie, Last Man on Earth, and the rebooted 21 Jump Street Films. In addition to all this, it was also announced earlier this year that the two would be heading the long rumored Star Wars anthology film centered on Han Solo.

According to THR, it was Lord and Miller who approached Serial host Sarah Koenig and her team at This American Life. Fox 21 studio president Bert Salke was ecstatic at the partnership between the two parties, telling the magazine:

"What you have here is a 'once every ten years creative storytelling phenom' with a 'once in ten years take' with a 'once in twenty-five years creative team.' We are confident we'll attract a spectacular writer and look forward to pitching it to outlets very soon."

Serial's Julie Snyder also had high praise for the pair saying:

"Chris and Phil take an unexpected approach to telling stories and that is so appealing to us at Serial. They experiment. They don't mimic formulas. Developing a show with them is exciting because we feel like we speak the same language, only they're smarter than us."

This news comes hot on the heels of last week's big announcement concerning the podcast's future. It was revealed that season 2 will tackle the case of US solider Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl.
