Pitch Perfect 3 New 2017 Release Date and Pacific Rim 2 Delayed

The film director and producer - Guillermo del Toro continues to be besieged with bad news, as the American film studio - Universal Pictures has announced it's pulling Pacific Rim 2 off its release calendar completely but the American musical comedy film - Pitch Perfect 3 is moving back two weeks to fill Pacific Rim 2's old slot.

A Universal representative said in a statement, "Legendary and Universal Pictures are committed to having Pacific Rim 2, the sequel to 2013's Pacific Rim, which triggered a $411 million at the global box office, be the vanguard, fully-immersive experience that the franchise deserves." "To this end, a settlement was made to hold up the production and release of Pacific Rim 2 so that the creative team can continue in its vigorous attempt to exceed the amazing experience of the first film."

A couple of days after the Pacific Rim 2 delay news came up, director Guillermo del Toro has tried to stay hopeful and confident about the future of the sequel, "As far as I'm concerned, it's not gone. We're still on it."

While Universal Pictures announced the cancellation of the released date of the 2013 American science fiction monster film sequel - Pacific Rim, Pitch Perfect 3 that stars Anna Kendrick as Beca and Rebel Wilson as Fat Amy, on the other hand was moved to open earlier than scheduled. It is now slated on August 4, 2017, instead of July 21, 2017.

The old release date, pitted Pitch Perfect 3 against the next film of the English-American film director and screenwriter, Christopher Nolan - Luc Besson's Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, and an untitled animated movie from 20th Century Fox. The new date for Pitch Perfect 3, foresee less competition, as no other films are currently scheduled for August 4.

Pitch Perfect 3 seems to be the right choice for Universal at the moment, as the first film was a surprise hit, earning $115 million worldwide, and the sequel has made nearly two and a half times gross from the first flick.
