Fans of the Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) love team are definitely jumping for joy after the "Scandal" season five premiere!
Now that we know how serious Fitz is with Olivia after he slapped his senator wife with divorce documents, it seems as though "Scandal" is gearing up for a steam love affair-filled season.
E! News recently talked to Kerry Washington on the night of the show's premiere at the event to support the Allstate Foundation Purple Purse's campaign, which aims to bring awareness to domestic violence and financial abuse.
In fact, Kerry Washington hosted the event, along with Dee, Tommy Hilfiger, and Saks Fifth Avenue. But going back to the real story - the "Django Unchained" actress revealed that she sees "the Olitz coupling as a jumping-off point for the show, not a hindrance."
Kerry Washington aptly puts it as:
"You know, in a lot of shows when the central love relationship finally comes together, that's the end of the show, [...] which I was really nervous about when I read our finale last year. I was like, 'Do we get a season five? Do we not get a season five?' But I think it's more like in life, that when our relationship begins, that's the beginning, not the end. [...] They get to discover what that means, what's it like with all that tension of not being able to be together. [...] What will it be like for them?"
In case you missed it, here's what you need to know about the rest of the episode:
What happens to Mellie Grant?
Mellie (Bellamy Young) is a senator, and because she was hoping to reconcile with Fitz, she didn't expect those divorce papers to come so quickly! Not only that, but she also visited the retired Cyrus and told him about her feelings in a really heartbreaking moment.
What case did Olivia Pope have this week?
It's actually pretty controversial - think Princess Diana/Amal Clooney/Kate Middleton/Grace Kelly fusion. An American human rights lawyer, Princess Emily -- who married the prince of Cadelonia -- was killed during a car accident.
No need for all the details, just watch the episode cause you obviously don't need anymore spoilers at this point (and because you really should watch the season premiere).
Kerry Washington net worth is $8 million, thanks to her $80,000 per episode salary.
