'Gotham' Showrunner Bruno Heller Confirms The Court Of Owls Will Appear In Season 2 [SPOILERS]

The second season of 'Gotham' has already started, and now that Theo and Tabitha Galavan's intentions have been made clear, it looks like the Fox TV series will dive into more DC comic book details.

One theory that has come out is Theo Galavan's possible connection to the Court of Owls, an ancient secret society that has been in control of Gotham City for several centuries. They are known for wearing owl masks and employ highly-skilled assassins called the Talons.

'Gotham' show runner Bruno Heller recently spoke with Comicbook.com, who asked whether the series will be interested in tying Theo Galavan into the world of the Court of Owls.

"Yeah, absolutely," Heller said. "I won't say that it's part of - I don't even want to say that, because I don't want to spoil part of the story."

Bruno Heller addressed that taking the Court of Owls into 'Gotham' would delve into more comic book details that have not been explored in the DC Cinematic Universe.

"The 'Court of Owls' is deep, deep, deep Gotham mythology," he said. "The comic book fans know about it, but I would suspect the larger audience is not so familiar. We sometimes have to make a distinction between the 'Nolan-era Batman movie fans' and the comic book fans. It's not that they're two separate audiences, just that there are two levels of engagement. 'Court of Owls' is very much deep DC mythology."

So will the 'Court of Owls' make an appearance in 'Gotham' Season Two?

[SPOILERS AFTER THE IMAGE]

"We are absolutely going to explore that world down the line," Heller confirmed. "Looking at the longevity of the show, we have to hold some cards back, we can't just throw all of the elements, all of the story at once."

Unfortunately, Bruno Heller wouldn't divulge just when the 'Court of Owls' will finally appear.

"The long arc of the show is Bruce Wayne's journey of discovery down into the depths of the physical and meta-physical world of Gotham," he said. "The 'Court of Owls' is a brilliant conceit that will absolutely be part of our storytelling. I just won't tell you when."

'Knock Knock,' the second episode of 'Gotham' Season Two, will air on Fox on September 28.
