Sam Smith Wanted to Commit Suicide Over His Weight

Despite being an award-winning international superstar singer, Sam Smith revealed about his weight issues. The 23 year old singer said that the fame he's having doesn't always compensate for  his happiness.

The Stay With Me hitmaker opened up his past issues with weight and said he was so in despair with his size that he came a the point of wanting to take his own life.

This was especially the case when Sam Smith saw his New Year's Eve photo that was circulated on the internet.

Sam Smith admitted that, "I saw a picture of me on New Year's Eve topless on a beach in Sydney and it made me want to kill myself," Sam Smith also said, "I just thought I was huge. I've had issues with my weight since I was a kid. My dad became a fitness trainer when I was 12 and he tried to help me, but I've always had issues."

However, Sam Smith had a change of heart when he met Amelia Freer - the renowned dietician, the singer then started to lose weight through Amelia Freer's beneficial nutrition program and fitness regime. 

Then Sam Smith went on saying, "I was put in contact with Amelia Freer, the dietician who got Boy George to lose all his weight," "The reality is I can do it now because I have a little bit more money, and that's the sad thing. It's impossible to eat healthily if you don't have any money."

After the English singer and songwriter started with a specific nutrition program for weight-management, Sam Smith shed about 73 pounds.

Sam Smith acknowledges that the success of his weight loss, is due to the fact that he can now afford to engage in a program like the one he has with Freer. Being a celebrity gives him the financial capability to spend money on food that is required in the program to keep himself fit.

Sam Smith became the inspiration for overweight children and teens worldwide, Amelia Freer said that the young fans of the singer started to have an interest in fitness and eating better after they witnessed the weight transformation of Sam Smith.
