The rift between the 52-year-old Vanessa Williams and Miss America organization seems to continue, even after 30 years.
The Ugly Betty Star and Grammy nominated singer still has not gotten over the photo scandal that took her title away from her and she expects Miss America Executives should still apologize to her according to scoops from TMZ.
Reports from Yahoo! says that the Miss America Organization announced that Williams, 52, will join the pageant as head judge for its 95th competition this year
"It's a new day there," Williams said in an exclusive interview with Robin Roberts.
Exactly thirty-two years after being crowned the first African-American Miss America, then becoming the first to resign after Penthouse magazine printed sexually explicit photos of her taken several years before her Miss America stint, Vanessa Williams says this is now the right time to return in the pageant scene.
"There's a lot of people that do feel that I should return ... And they are inviting me back as an example of, 'This is what can happen to you in your life.'
"And there might be some more surprises. So we'll see."
In her interview with Robin Roberts, she shared her unforgettable experiences as Miss America, especially the fact that she was the first African-American to be given the title.
"I didn't realize how big it would be ... older black women thought they'd never see it in their lifetime. And some people would cry."
Her resignation became her turning point as it affects her loved ones, even her personal goals. But what seemed to be an ugly thing, became her springboard to newer heights.
Just four years after her hiatus, she regained her social status and became an icon in the entertainment industry. She also become a Grammy-, Emmy- and Tony-nominated and starred in the shows like Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives
She will be joined by celebrity judges Brett Eldredge, Taya Kyle, Danica McKellar, Kevin O'Leary, Amy Purdy and Zendaya on the 2016 Miss America pageant airs Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
