It's been a long ride for fans of George R. R. Martin's saga about the world of Westeros in "A Song of Ice and Fire," as he started writing the books long before the story was adapted to the small screen on HBO's "Game of Thrones," and now, there seems to be hope about a "Winds of Winter" release date.
The last book of the saga was released five years ago, in 2011, and since that point the fantasy television series has already caught up with its source material, so everyone besides "Game of Thrones" showrunners and Martin himself knows what's going to happen, but as the "Winds of Winter" release date approaches, all that might change soon!
According to scoop obtained by fan site Watchers on The Wall, there might finally be a "Winds of Winter" release date soon enough, as it seems an editor for Ediciones Gigamish, the publishing house in Spain who owns the books' rights in the language, has spoken about when the book's due.
Taking the original story from Spanish site Los Siete Reinos, it has been reported that Alejo Cuervo, an editor for the publishing house who has met Martin in person in the past, spoke recently on a radio station in Catalonia, where he was obviously asked what he knew about the "Winds of Winter" release date.
"It is expected next year," said Cuervo in the Spanish-language interview. "We have been promised the manuscript in advance of the release in English which we will translate, there won't be a big difference."
As International Business Times reports, there's no specific "Winds of Winter" release date yet, but it would seem like the book's at least in the editing process right now in English, something Martin has already enigmatically said in the past.
Hopefully we will be hearing an official "Winds of Winter" release date in the next few weeks, as filming for the show's sixth season continues, reportedly in new locations in Spain.
