Miley Cyrus Supports Pacific Wild Against B.C.'s Wolf Cull

Miley Cyrus took a stand against British Columbia's wolf culling program by asking her followers through the photo sharing platform to sign a petition to stop the killing of wolves.

On Tuesday, Cyrus wrote on her Instagram, "I ask so much of my fanz, friendz, & family. But I am shameless when it comes to making changes in a world that at times needs to reevaluate its morals when dealing with kindness and compassion towards animals, humanity, and the environment."

Then Miley went on by asking her 28 million followers in Instagram to sign a petition, which was launched by conservation group Pacific Wild.

The cull is the British Columbia's way to save the endangered mountain caribou. Officials believe that predation by wolves is hampering the endangered species' recovery from its elimination. 84 wolves were already slaughtered between Jan and April this year, CBC News reported.

However, many believe, including Miley that B.C. is lacking evidence to support the notion that wolves are the problem to caribou's extinction.

Now, the Pacific Wild group is hopeful that the petition will help protect the wolves, after Miley posted in Instagram. The goal of the group is to garner 200,000 signatures.

"The main sentiment we're hearing, not just from Miley Cyrus but from many people, is that they are outraged that the B.C. government is spending millions of dollars on this extremely cruel and unfounded - both scientifically and certainly ethically - wolf cull program," the group's executive director, Ian McAllister said.

Pacific Wild also reached out to Cyrus to show their appreciation. The organization has been flooded with questions, since Cyrus blasted the killing program.

"Braison, Miley, Thanks so much for your combined support of the #StoptheExport (throphy hunt) and #SaveBCWolves campaigns. The response in the last 24 hours has been incredible (our website as never seen that kind of traffic!) and today media are really giving this another look," Pacific Wild wrote.
