"Spectre" might just be one of the most hyped Bond movies in recent times, and for months it has been surrounded in rumors regarding who exactly will be the artist penning its theme - and after a long walk in speculation, it's been confirmed that Sam Smith's James Bond tune is the winner!
It'd been heavily tipped that the "Lay Me Down" singer was competing with fellow British star Ellie Goulding and band Radiohead to release a follow-up to Adele's Oscar-winning turn in "Skyfall," and after Smith seemingly said the rumors were true, now Sam Smith's James Bond involvement is further confirmed by Sony Pictures.
According to Digital Trends, earlier this week, Sam Smith's James Bond involvement was seemingly confirmed after the singer took to Twitter to post a picture of himself that seemingly set the record straight once and for all regarding the theme song's confusion.

After Sony Pictures confirmed Sam Smith's James Bond involvement, The Guardian reports that the 23 year-old singer spoke to Nick Grimshaw's Radio 1 program to finally speak about the project.
"I'm so relieved to actually talk about this; this has been top-secret mission of my own," said Smith. "I got called into the office with Barbara Broccoli and Sam Mendes and they gave me the script. I read the script. They said, 'Have a go at the song.'"
In fact, Sam Smith's James Bond theme was created at the beginning of the year, and the singer has shared it's the quickest song he's ever written, only taking him about 20 minutes back in January.
The Verge reports that this gig turns Smith into the first British male solo artist to record a James Bond song since Tom Jones' 1965 "Thunderball," and the young singer has revealed on Twitter and Instagram that he's very proud of being a part of this iconic franchise.
Sam Smith's James Bond song will be released later this month in the U.K. and a month later in the United States ahead of the fall release of "Spectre," starring Daniel Craig once more as the deadly spy with a license to kill.
