Lil Wayne Not Writing 'Last' Rites

Rapper, Lil Wayne experienced a difficult week, after being hospitalized for drinking "syrup". According to ABC News, the syrup is "a dangerous mix of prescription-strength codeine and sugary soda that has been a popular drug in the southern rap community for decades -- and has caused numerous deaths -- could spread to a younger generation through social media." The article went on to describe the syrup as, "promethazine/codeine syrup mixed with high-caffeine or fruit-flavored soda or alcohol. Fruit-flavored candy is often added to increase its sweetness."

Rumors began to surface that the rapper was dying, and was in the midst of writing his last rites. Lil Wayne was appalled when he heard this. Monday, the rapper was released from the hospital. His friends are currently taking care of him. Mack Maine, one of the rapper's closest friends told MTV, "He's blessed, he's up, he's in good spirits, and we'd like to thank all the fans for the prayers. A lot of people reached out and showed love, but Wayne's at home, he's relaxing," he said, assuring the public that all is well. "He's actually been in good health for a minute. They just wanted to run a few tests on him, that's why they kept him longer than expected, but he's been good."

According to Biography, Lil Wayne grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. The rapper was forced to grow up in a low economic neighborhood. Lil Wayne began rapping at 8 years of age. The rapper received his big break in the industry, after meeting the founders of Cash Money Records. At the age of 11, Lil Wayne created his first record with Cash Money; it was called True Stories. It featured Lil Wayne and another rapper, B.G.s. The rapper appeared to be on the road to success at a very young age, however he was dealing crack cocaine.

According to Biography, eventually the rapper went solo and in 1999 experienced his first big hit, Tha Block Is Hot; it was very successful on the hip-hop charts.

Lil Wayne experienced a tough past, however he is considered one of the most talented rappers of his generation. The rapper is recovering, and has close friends taking care of him.
