KFC Celebrates Colonel Harland Sanders' Birthday With All-You-Can-Eat Chicken

In celebration of Kentucky Fried Chicken founder Colonel Harland Sanders' birthday, KFC Japan will offer all-you-can-eat fried chicken, French fries, and unlimited drink refills.

On September 9th, all 105 KFC branches in Japan will be serving the most popular Original recipe fried chicken all-day. Diners can also eat as many French fries and drink unlimited refills for 45 minutes at about $13 for regular customers and $8 for school-aged kids.

What's more? All women will get free dessert along with their meals too. As reported by Nari Nari, kids under 6 years old can eat for free.

Colonel Harland Sanders is famous for his well-loved secret fried chicken recipe.

In the U.S., KFC is bringing back the popular fast-food chain icon in its new advertising series to talk about current events.

The ad series entitled "Fryerside Chats" is based on former president Franklin D. Roosevelt's "fireside chats" - a regular evening radio program addressing various issues during the mid-1930s.

Playing the role of Colonel Sanders is "Saturday Night Live" alum and "Last Comic Standing" judge Norm Macdonald in a series of brief online ads, replacing previous actor Darrell Hammond.

"I always wanted to do something like that for my Kentucky Fried Chicken, so welcome to my fryerside chat," Macdonald tells the viewers, adding "That's my fryer and I'm going to chat beside it," to emphasize the obvious jokes.

Each 15-second advertisement tackles current events such as the Labor Day, National Kale day, and the NFL season.

In its most recent quarterly report, KFC increased its revenue by 8% as it added more branches across the country. This isn't enough for the fast-food chain, however, since it lost its position as the #1 chicken chain in the US. This is KFC's attempt to reclaim the top spot since Chick-fil-A overtook in 2012.
