Mr. Robot Sets Rotten Tomatoes Record

Most discussions regarding 2015's best summer TV shows start and end with Mr. Robot. USA Network's breakout series about a hacker trying to overthrow the world's biggest conglomerate is without question the season's biggest success.

The ten episode first season (which concluded last week) currently holds the record as the only scripted series to earn a perfect 100% fresh rating for each instalment on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. A second season is already penciled in for next year.

"We knew from the moment we read Sam Esmail's provocative script, and witnessed the brilliant performances of Rami Malek and Christian Slater, that Mr. Robot is a stand-out series that is unlike anything currently on television," said USA Network President Chris McCumber during the announcement of its renewal. "The overwhelmingly positive fan reactions to the pilot and the broad sampling of it, reaffirms our confidence in the series, and we're excited to see where this timely drama will take us for season two."

Mr. Robot stars Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson, a brilliant but mentally ill computer hacker who falls in league with fsociety, an Anonymous-esque hacker collective led by Christian Slater's mysterious Mr. Robot. Together they hatch a plan to take down E-Corp, a fictional multinational conglomerate that controls most of the world's industries and governments.

The show's techno-thriller plot, dystopian themes and exploration of hot button issues like government surveillance, privacy invasions, and wealth inequality have made it perfect water cooler fodder. Current controversies like the Ashley Madison scandal have also found their way into the show's story.

The show's mind bending psychological elements have turned it into an internet forum phenomenon that will no doubt have fans theory crafting well into next year.

Make sure you get caught up before the second season airs next year.
