Dunkin’ Donuts has begun testing a new, gluten-free donut offering.
The National Foundation for Celiac Awareness reports that the new products were first noticed in the Miami, Florida and Boston, Massachusetts.
Dunkin’ Donuts is currently testing new gluten-free options at select stores in both Florida and Massachusetts. When asked about the additions to their menu, a spokesperson for Dunkin' Donuts said that the testing has received positive response but does not yet have any detail plan for national distribution.
According to InvestorPlace, a franchisee in South Florida responded to a Facebook post about the test that he had been interested in it since his son was diagnosed with Celiac disease, and there are plans to expand the test in February.
The donut and coffee giant now joins other fast food chains adding gluten free menus, including Chick-Fil-A, Wendy's, and Domino's. The sales of gluten-free food in the U.S. have been soared over the recent years.
