50 Cent: chapter 11 bankruptcy
50 Cent: 10-year-old beef with Ja Rule
It seems as though the rapper is looking to do some damage control (and maybe make some money in the process) by releasing new art in the form of a short film for his new song.
Called "9 Shots," the accompanying video shows off some of Curtis Jackson's acting skills when he revisits a traumatic time in his life.
Back in 2000, 50 Cent encountered a shooting, which was a near-death experience. 50 Cent spent 13 days in the hospital, while he recovered from gunshot wounds on his chest, both legs, an arm, a hand, and his left cheek.
The video for the new track was directed by Eif Rivera, and is a full-on cinematic experience. To no surprise, 50 Cents stars in the short film, alongside G-Unit alumni Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks.
The short film adaptation features 50 Cent shooting Tony Yayo on evening, then subsequently meeting up with Lloyd Banks. Banks then orders a hit on 50 Cent, after discovering the latter's crime.
The song is much like the video, tracing 50 Cent's roots and all about the "old 50 [Cent]."
"9 Shots" is a track from 50 Cent's latest album, "Street King Immortal." The record has gone through several alterations and cancellations, since its original release date in 2011.
"Street King Immortal" carries 18-tracks including featured artists Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and Chris Brown. Although the album has no set release date yet, it seems like it's worth the wait, given that Dr. Dre helped produced the record.
