Former 'American Idol' Finalist Constantine Maroulis Arrested for Domestic Violence

'American Idol' season four finalist, Constantine Maroulis was arrested for domestic violence charges.

According to TMZ the 'American Idol' contestant was arrested for allegedly throwing and kicking his girlfriend, Angel Reed.

The two reportedly had an argument that drastically turned into physical. Law enforcement told TMZ, Reed, who is the mother of Constantine's four year old daughter, called 911, claiming that the singer "threw her to the ground and kicked her in the groin" at their home in Wyckoff, New Jersey.

Police responded and jailed Constantine, but he was released later on after he bailed out.

Constantine's representative claimed, it was just a self- defense. Reed was the one who is violent, she reportedly began attacking him after the singer told her that he is leaving her.

"He did not throw her to the ground or kick her in the groin during this incident," Constantine's representative told E! News. "He consequently left their home to protect himself and to diffuse the situation. Some time later, the local police came and arrested him for domestic abuse. He paid a small bail and was released."

The representative further added that Constantine is "confident" that he will "vindicated"

The spokesperson said, "Mr. Maroulis intends to defend himself vigorously, as well as protect his child, both in the court of law and, as necessary, in the court of public opinion and is confident that he will be completely vindicated when the truth is known."

"He thanks his family, friends, fans and supporters for their continued faith and trust in him during this challenging time and assures them that their belief in him is warranted," he added.   

The representative also told TMZ that they have evidence proving that the incident was self- defense and they are holding a document proving that Reed was violent prior the event.
