Talk Show host Oprah Winfrey is all set to venture into a new business. It has nothing to do with films or media--she plans to launch her own organic food product line.
She has reportedly filed trademark applications and the names include Oprah's organics, Oprah's Farm and Oprah's Harvest which will be available only in Hawaii, according to a MSN report.
"It seems unlikely...that someone with Winfrey's reach and influence would go to the effort of filing extensive trademarks only to confine her new organic food business to Hawaii," Forbes reports.
The 58-year-old media mogul has a huge estate with hundreds of acres of land on the Hawaiian island of Maui which includes a working farm. "The trademarks were filed for Oprah's farm on Maui to enable the farm to grow and distribute produce on Maui and throughout the Hawaiian Islands", a representative for Winfrey told The New York Post.
According to Forbes, Winfrey has applied for trademarks in organic salad dressing, organic sauces, beverages, frozen organic vegetables and a lot more. A catering service is also planned.
The talk show wizard is worth $2.7 billion. Her huge empire comprises a television network "Oprah Winfrey Network", websites, radio shows, magazines, a production house and much more. Her very famous "Oprah Winfrey Talk Show" ran for about 25 years.
She was born in Mississippi and had a difficult childhood. She went on to become a billionaire at the age of 32 and she has featured in Forbes list of highest paid celebrities.
