The 2003 non-fiction book of Erik Larson's "The Devil In The White City: Murder, Magic and Madness At The Fair That Changed America" will reunite Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese to work together in the film.
Reportedly, there were five studios that were completely eager for the adaptation, but it ended up when Paramount closed the deal and had Leonardo DiCaprio starring in the lead role with Martin Scorsese helming. As Billy Ray will write the script, both DiCaprio and Scorsese will produce the film alongside with Jennifer Davisson and Stacey Sher.
Leonardo DiCaprio will portray the role of Herman Webster Mudgett, better known under the name of Dr. Henry Howard Holmes, he was one of the first documented serial killers in the modern sense of the term.
It was in the The Wolf of Wall Street film (a wealthy stock-broker living the high life to his fall involving crime, corruption and the federal government) that Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese last worked together where DiCaprio and Scorsese earned Oscar nominations, and the film also demonstrated the truth of Scorsese's biggest hit. The talented duo also teamed up on Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, and Shutter Island.
As DiCaprio will play the killer or the bad guy in the movie, there are no words yet on who'll play the other main character in the film The Devil In The White City. But in the delightfully dark material such like a main role, Scorsese could do wonders with it. And the short film of Martin Scorsese The Audition, with DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Brad Pitt will premiere at Venice.
It has been reported that the film 'The Devil in the White City' has been a passion project of (the American actor and film producer, and has been nominated for ten Golden Globe Awards, winning two, and five Academy Awards) Leonardo DiCaprio for many years now - as it will be one of the most daring and challenging roles Leonardo DiCaprio, casting the actor as one of the most notorious and prolific serial killers in American history.
