A disconcerting video of a fast food worker surfaced on YouTube on Tuesday - where a burger bun was wiped on the floor.
Not only that, but the Checkers employee throws a burger bun onto the ground, then rubs it against the dirty surface, before actually picking it up and resuming to make a sandwich.
Witnesses (and probably other Checkers employees) could be heard laughing throughout the 20-second viral video. The Checkers restaurant is said to be located in a suburb near Baltimore.
The video has over 900,000 views on YouTube, while having over 4 million views on social networking site Facebook.
After the video became infamous, Checkers quickly issued a response to the incident on Wednesday. In a response video, Senior VP of Human Resources for Checkers Lori Malcolm claims that the video was recorded two weeks ago.
"I, like you, am appalled and disappointed by what I saw in that video," Malcolm stated.
Malcolm further notes that the owner of the said franchise investigated the incident and has since fired the employees linked to the video itself. The company is also said to be making their own investigation and "exploring all [their] options."
"We spoke to the employee in the video and her mother - and the employee is very sorry and embarrassed about what happened," said Lori Malcolm.
"She confirmed that she and her co-workers were playing around in the kitchen, and the product was never served to a guest," Malcolm continued.
Lori Malcom also added, "While the employee is very apologetic, these actions are completely unacceptable and do not reflect our value or our commitment to food quality," Malcolm added.
The Checkers headquarters is in Tampa, Florida. The company has over 18,000 employees across all of its franchises.
