Jon Stewart is going to become part of history following the last episode of "The Daily Show" on Thursday, but it will his set that will becoming part of a museum.
The Newseum, a museum based in Washington, D.C., made an announced Wednesday stating that it will acquire the set of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" right after the host finished his last episode on August 6. Zealous about news-related figures, the Newseum said that they will be having the 16-year set for future display, according to NPR.
Among the set's items which they are planning to display include the set desk, globe, one guest chair and several assorted props which include mugs.
"From 'The Daily Show' anchor desk, Jon Stewart dissected the news with blistering wit and wisdom as millions watched," according to Cathy Trost, Newseum's senior vice president of exhibits and programs.v"We are thrilled to accept the donation of these artifacts to the Newseum collection."
"They are part of America's cultural and media history, telling an important story about how political satire and news as humor made 'The Daily Show' a trusted news source for a generation," she added.
Trost also said that Jon Stewart had not only been a host but has become "a voice for a strong and free press, and against the silencing of journalists by repressive regimes."
Last fall, Stewart reportedly appeared at the Newseum for the screening of the film "Rosewater," a film he directed and co-wrote.
Since 1999, Jon Stewart has hosted the late night show, with interviews spanning a wide variety of famous personalities such as actors, authors and even President Obama. During his 16-year tenure with "The Daily Show," the 52-year-old host has become one of the most "popular and award-winning media critics on television," according to CNN Money.
Jon Stewart has also been compared several times to Amrican broadcast journalist Walter Cronkite.
Stewart made the announcement of his exit from "The Daily Show" in April, reported TIME,
