Ice Cube's son, O'Shea Jackson Jr., portrayed the role of a young Ice Cube in the film. After the show revealed some clips of Jackson Jr. acting in the movie, Al Roker asked the rapper on what he was most proud of.

"What are you more proud of? The picture, the way this has turned out, or your son stepping up and doing such a great job playing you," said Roker.

Like any father, Ice Cube admitted that he's proud of his son. "My son. It's just like a father, you're just happy when your kids step up and I'm so proud of him."

Ice Cube continued, "And then I look and it's the movie about our group and I'm extra proud of that. So I'm proud on a thousand different levels."

"Today" co-host Willie Geist even let his fan mode shine. "I was watching the movie last night and I'm a huge fan of yours, huge fan of N.W.A. for a long time, I was listening to 'Death Certificate' in the office today," he admitted.

Of course, Ice Cube also talked about N.W.A and how the group was able to make a great impact on society and culture.

"I think we were speaking for a lot of people who felt voiceless. We were being brutally honest. A lot of entertainers at the time would put on a mask and have to put on the goody-too-shoes kind of image to be famous," he shared.

Ice Cube also added, "We just was ourselves and I think there was a whole lot of people that really love and respect that."

Ice Cube net worth is $140 million. "Straight Outta Compton" hits theatres on Friday, August 7.

Dr. Dre is also set to release his first album after 15 years. Entitled, "Compton: A Soundtrack By Dr. Dre," the album is an extended soundtrack for "Straight Outta Compton."
