After creating beloved underground films like the "Before" trilogy and the Robert Downey Jr.-led "A Scanner Darkly," Richard Linklater, recently nominated for multiple awards for his 12 year project "Boyhood," is in the search for his newest project - and rumor has it he may be part of Jennifer Lawrence's movies list!
A recent report claims that Sony Pictures, the studio behind one of the of the many upcoming Jennifer Lawrence movies, (an adaptation to the 2013 best seller "The Rosie Project") is actually looking to hire prestigious filmmaker Linklater to direct the film, a rare occurrence for him as he usually works with his own material.
According to an exclusive by Deadline, "Rosie" has been opted by Sony Pictures as a future project among Jennifer Lawrence movies, after Phil Lord and Christopher Miller exited pre-production to get behind the Han Solo "Star Wars" prequel that was announced a few weeks back.
As The Sydney Morning Herald reports, this new venture among Jennifer Lawrence's movies would see the 24 year-old Oscar winner returning to romantic comedies after the film that gave her an Oscar, "Silver Linings Playbook," while Linklater hasn't worked at length in this genre, having been focused on more dramatic takes on romance in his previous work, most notably with the Julie Delpy and Ethan Hawke films "Before Sunrise," "Before Sunset" and the more recent "Before Midnight."
According to AV Club, the film that's in the way of turning into one of the latest Jennifer Lawrence movies deals with the story of a scientist that comes up with a survey to find the "perfect mate," although everything goes wrong after he meets Rosie (Lawrence's role), a completely mismatched woman who he nonetheless finds irresistible.
Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, the same writers behind the similarly themed Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zoey Deschanel film "500 Days of Summer," wrote the screenplay.
There have been no comments from Sony Pictures or Linklater about whether the director would be behind latest of Jennifer Lawrence movies.
