According to a survey recently conducted by Public Health England, older women are prone to acquiring breast cancer. BBC reported that 1 in 3 women were found to have breast cancer every year and most of them are 70 years older and above.
This recent findings made by Public Health England is creating an awareness to women worldwide to visit their doctor for checkups, especially when it comes to the possible lumps that could be found on their breast area. The agency wants to provide awareness to those said demographics and make them see all the changes that is happening with their body. It is also their goal to let educate these women about the new symptoms of breast cancer. And just because you've reached the age of 70 and above, it doesn't exactly exempt you to the possible threat of this disease.
Based on the statistics they have gathered, almost ten thousand women of these ages die annually due to breast cancer almost 5,400 of them are over 70 years of age. The campaign made by the Cancer Research just shows that breast cancer is not just about growing unusual lumps in your chest area and everyone is basically at risk it doesn't matter what your age is. This is what the director of the campaign, Sara Hiom told BBC during the interview.
She recommends early diagnosis for this to be treated. As long as it was diagnosed early, then it doesn't matter what age a woman is, the chance of getting it treated and being cancer free is still high and definitely possible.
For women out there, especially if they are 70 years and above, it is best that they seek an advice of their doctor to early diagnose their case. They don't have to wait for symptoms to occur.
