Is the world ready for the return of the Google Glass? Details surrounding the device has recently surfaced, and reveals that the tech giant is upgrading the Google Glass.
Unfortunately, the upgrades are intended to pull in the enterprise market rather than the typical consumer.
The new version, called the "Enterprise Edition" or "EE" of Google Glass will carry a "larger prism display display, as well as an Intel Atom processor that brings better performance and moderately improved battery life," as reported by 9to5google.
The Intel Atom chip is also reportedly "faster than the current top-of-the-line Android Wear smartwatches."
Reports claim that the improved battery life is partially attributed to the Intel Atom CPU. Not only that, enterprise users can even attach an external battery pack onto the device. The external battery pack allows users to use the Google Glass all day long.
The old Explorer Edition model of the Google Glass had plenty of issues in terms of eye strains with persistent use. But with the larger prism display on the Enterprise Edition, users can be more comfortable looking directly upwards as compared to the old model - where users look up and then to the right.
In terms of screen resolution, it's still unknown if the newer model boasts a higher resolution that its predecessor. However, rumors have floated that the EE definitely would be "better" than the one of the Explorer Edition.
If the new model is indeed real, the Google Glass EE will be targeted towards companies that will be requiring smarter technology for its employees.
The Enterprise Edition would actually be well suited for warehouse workers, who can receive information with regard to the job at hand, thus enabling the companies to "receive and process orders quicker."
The Enterprise Edition of the Google Glass is reportedly slated to release sometime this year.
