Microsoft Rebrands Xbox Music and Xbox Video

Microsoft has decided to rebrand its entertainment apps Xbox Music as Groove and Xbox Video as Movies & TV. Both applications will be accessible in the new Microsoft Window's 10 preview starting on July 29.

The tech company has revealed the reason behind the change of brand names. On Twitter, Microsoft's Joe Belfiore said that rebranding has become a must because the former names are just so confusing.

"Lots of people were saying 'I don't have an Xbox, why would I use Xbox Music?" explained by Belfiore.

The Xbox Video was changed to Movies & TV to make the app more familiar and recognizable.

The company affirms the public that the new applications will surely have "easy-to-use menus and navigation controls" just like the former Xbox Music and Video. The apps will also provide touch gestures that will work even if the customers are using a mouse and keyboard, or a touch screen.

The Groove app will feature built-in OneDrive integration. This means that the user can upload all MP3s and access it with the Groove app for free. The new music app can also provide comfort and enhancement. Users can tweak their device to zoom in or out in different views.

They can also drag their treasured music to make it a playlist, hang it over to Taskbar for controls, or pin it to the Start menu by using right click for contextual menus.

Light and dark themes will be available for this app. The user can also change it into different colors, depending on the style of the user.

Movies & TV will now be integrated to Windows Store which will allow users to rent or buy TV shows and movies. Just like the former Xbox Video, the rebranded app can always play personal videos, movies and TV shows. It will be accessible to multiple devices and will also feature some updates to make the app more customer-friendly.
