'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Spoilers: New Character, A Confrontation and More Backstories Ahead

'The Walking Dead' creator Scott M. Gimple has just revealed several Season Six plotlines. The showrunner confirmed that Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Morgan Jones (Lennie James) will finally get into a confrontation and that the new season will feature several backstories.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gimple also revealed the identity of the character from the comics who will finally debut in the show's sixth season.

"We have seen Heath on the internet when we announced it," he said. "Corey Hawkins is playing him, and he's terrific and I'm so excited to see him bring Heath to life."

Several fans have previously posted pictures of Hawkins with Danai Gurira on the set and speculated that he will play Heath.

Gimple also confirmed that Rick's actions in the season finale will lead to a confrontation with Morgan.

"Right after [Rick] pulled the trigger, Morgan was there and they're face-to-face," he said. "What have we heard from Morgan? What have we seen from him? He said, "All life is precious," and the first thing he sees Rick do is shoot a man in the face. So right there, the facts point towards a bit of conflict there, a bit of an issue."

The showrunner also addressed speculations that the new season will be filled with backstories.

"I think there's a really cool aspect to the first half of the season that serves almost as a prequel to some direct comic stuff in the second half of the season," Gimple said.

"I think there's a way that [show creator] Robert [Kirkman] did some of the story that we're reaching that had a real past to it, where people are referring to some things in the past in the comic. And we're able to portray some of that backstory in some ways that you didn't get to see in the comic."

'The Walking Dead' will be present at the San Diego Comic Con this week. The sixth season will premiere on AMC in October.
