Study Shows Smartphones Must Be Used Away From The Heart

Study shows that your smartphones has a connection to the risk of heart attack. According to West Texas News, during the EHRA Eurospace Cardiostim 2015, this study was presented stating that those who wear pacemakers or other cardiac related gadgets, are very much at risk if their smartphones are near the device due to radiation.

Dr. Carsten Lennerz presented the recent findings and she is a cardiologist at the Clinic for Heart and Circulatory Diseases and also at the German Heart Center in Munich, Germany. The study was tested using pacemakers about a decade ago and that's when they have found its links related to cardiac arrest.

Even before, a debate about the down sides of the radiation coming from smartphones has already been there. Lighthouse News Daily also learned about this issue and reported that since this topic existed, recommendations on using the proper usage of smartphones for those with pacemakers and cardiac device have been released. Sadly, not a lot of people have really paid attention.

About 308 patients were used to test for this research. There were 147 out of that number had pacemakers and 161 of them had ICDs. The study was also made using smartphone that are popular like the Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC One XL and the Nokia Lumia.

These phones were located just right above the area where the pacemakers were also placed. Now, by using a radio communication tester, the phones were set to work according to their use such as calling, ringing and the like. Variety of frequencies were use to check the activity of the phone's network. Electrocardiograms were used to see the waves or connection between the pacemakers and the smartphones.

As a result, 3,400 tests were made from the electromagnetic interference as per Times Gazette's report. The said interference affected one of the patients.
