The third installment of the hit Disney movie Princess Diaries is unfortunately not happening despite all the rumors said about the company planning to release it. According to IB Times, Disney already said all these rumors are false.
An insider close to Disney of Entertainment Weekly said on Wednesday that no sequel or reboot is currently in the works. The website Tracking Board was among the first who said that the third sequel of the movie was in development although they really didn't have a lot of facts backing up their news aside from stating that Debra Chase (same producer who worked on both the other Princess Diaries sequel) would be producing it.
Inquisitr said that even CNN was actually convinced that this is happening. After 11 years since the first installment of this film was released, fans couldn't help but wonder if a new release was coming out anytime soon. Based on the book written by Meg Cabot, Mia has a lot of love interests aside from Michael Moscovitz, who she ended up married to. Fans are thinking that maybe those love interests before she got married would be great to create the story for the third part of this movie series. But if you're familiar with how Disney works with their movies derived from books, they don't usually follow the story. This means that should there be a third part of this film, it's most likely not going to be just like how people would expect it from the book.
Movie News Guide has some reports saying Julie Andrews also confirming there is no truth about these rumors of the Princess Diaries 3 that in her opinion, even Anne Hathaway won't really participate in it any longer. She said during an interview a few years back that she wouldn't say no to the project, but her former co-star in the film might reject the idea.
