McDonald's hasn't always offered a cultural experience when it comes to food, but this summer, the fast food giant will give its customers a new experience. They have added local flavors and products into five new menu items to adapt for the culinary creations that Canadians love.
The most popular food that the company is selling is its very own lobster roll, called McLobster, which is available from June 17 until June 30 or until the supplies last. Everyone can eat the McLobster for just $7.49 plus tax.
McLobster has been offered in Atlantic Canada for more than 10 years now, but this is the first time that it's been offered in restaurants across the country. The lobster roll features 100% Atlantic Canadian lobster meat with celery, lemon-flavored mayonnaise-style sauce and shredded lettuce on a bun.
A company spokesperson said in an email that McDonald's had always been strengthening their relationships with customers and guests and also becoming a part of Canada.
"This campaign is a great way to celebrate diversity, the uniqueness of our country and regions, and of course, our proud Canadian sourcing story," he added.
The McLobster is just one of the restaurant's so-called Great Canadian Taste Adventure menu items. There are four other 'regional flavors' in the summer promotion, such as Maple and Bacon poutine (Quebec curds), Cottage Country Chicken (Ontario chicken), Western BBQ burger (Prairie beef), and the sundae (Nanaimo crumble from B.C.).
The Western BBQ Burger might look like it's a representative of Texas, but the beef comes from Canada. And even though the majority of Texas doesn't agree, Canadians produce the best barbecue sauce in North America.
A Cottage Country is a place, which feels like time slows down, where you can relax and charge yourself for a whole day. The Cottage Country Chicken is inspired by a warm summer night around the campfire, crispy seasoned Ontario - raised chicken and a smoky Muskoka sauce that brings the cottage to you.
