The Force was strong at EA's media briefing during this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. The game publishing giant, who holds the exclusive game rights to the Star Wars franchise for the next 10 years, showed what they have planned for the universe, showcasing three new Star Wars games across multiple platforms.

The first game they unveiled was Star Wars 'The Old Republic: Knights of The Fallen Empire', a new expansion coming to their popular free to play massively multiplayer online RPG. The CGI trailer highlighted the story driven focus of the coming add on which features twin brothers who are heirs to a galactic empire. The expansion is said to be free to current subscribers of the game.

The second game bearing the Star Wars name is 'Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes' a card game coming to mobile devices later this year. EA didn't share much about the game but mentioned that characters would span the entire breadth of the franchise, from the original trilogy to the prequels and Clone Wars animated series.

The main event of EA's conference was the big gameplay reveal of Star Wars: Battlefront. Developed by 'Battlefield' creators DICE and built on the Frostbite 3 engine, the game is a next gen take on the classic multiplayer shooter that debuted two console generations ago. Aside from Star Wars, EA's other big franchises also got significant time at the presentation. The company revealed the debut trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda which is slated for a holiday 2016 release.
