Recently, the prestigious competition of the Decanter World Wine Awards, funded in 2004 by the magazine Decanter and published yearly in their August edition, chose the best Chardonnay in the world: the Macon-Villages 2014, available in the British retail giant Marks & Spencer at an uncommonly low price for its taste.

According to The Independent, Decanter gave the best Chardonnay in the world award to the Macon-Villages 2014 after it was judged by a panel of 240, including famous sommelier and world champion Gerard Basset; at £10 ($15), it's only one in 35 wines to receive an International Trophy in the prestigious award ceremony - and that's in a universe of almost 16,000 of the world's best wines.
The Telegraph reports that the best Chardonnay in the world is made for Macon-Villages by Georges Brichon, a French winemaker located in the wine-famous province of Burgundy, and Marks & Spencer describe its taste as "a fresh and fruity wine with a really appealing, lively scent of apples and lemons and a hint of ripe, rounded peach on the finish."
The Mirror reports that, fn fact, there were a number of gold medals for British supermarket wines, including Taste the Difference Pinot Noir 2013, sold by Sainsbury's and Finest Malbec 2014, sold by Tesco.
As English wines continue to rise in the market, it turns out that 90 percent of all British wines tasted ended up having gold medals, including the best Chardonnay in the world!
