Gaming Biggest Bargains Available Today in Steam's Annual Summer Sale!

Gaming's worst kept secret is finally going to be revealed later today For weeks speculators have pegged the start date for Steam's annual summer sale to be June 11, 2015. But yesterday we may have received the biggest confirmation yet that the sale is indeed upon us.

Paypal seems to have jumped the gun, sending out emails to users claiming the sale does indeed begin later today. The Paypal message reveals that the sale will run until June 21 and urges recipients to start stocking up on Steam wallet credits.

Steam users have also noted the appearance of mysterious badges on their user accounts, which go active on the 11th indicating that the event will happen on that day.

For the uninitiated, the Steam Summer Sale is one of the most awaited events in the gaming world. For the duration of the sale, numerous video games are sold at heavily discounted prices on Steam, the number one digital marketplace for games. It's normal to see hotly anticipated titles going for 50-70% percent off their standard price, so it has become one of the most popular times to buy video games.

Last year's event revolved around the theme of summer adventure and had different kinds of sales and discounts on offer. Ranging from 8 hour flash sales, daily deals, community voted discounts, and a whole host of other activities. Steam users were divided into teams of five and the team that amassed the most points at the end of the sale was gifted with random titles from their wishlists.

Aside from the start and end dates, not much is known about this year's iteration of the event. The one tidbit worth sharing is that after the end date of June 21, an encore period of two days will be available where the most popular deals during the event will get reruns on the marketplace.
