'The X-Files' Mulder and Scully: First Look at Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny On Set Pictures [PHOTOS]

The internet is abuzz with news about the upcoming revival of 'The X-Files' series.

Creator Chris Carter had announced earlier this year that the reboot will mark the return of FBI agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) to the small screen. The six-episode paranormal mini-series will also feature Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi), Mulder and Scully's former direct supervisor.

In late March, William B. Davis confirmed to CTV News that the series will start filming in summer. "That's my understanding and I actually have my understanding from the horse's mouth," the actor said. "It will actually shoot here in Vancouver, and soon - starting in June."

Davis will also reprise his role as The Smoking Man in the new series.

June has indeed arrived and the actors are now filming, as revealed by their photos on Twitter accounts. Anderson was the first to post a quick picture.

Duchovny immediately followed suit.

The show's official Twitter account also shared a photo of Duchovny and Anderson on set as Mulder and Scully.

The new mini-series will introduce a new character named Tad O'Malley. The internet news reporter will be played by comedian Joel McHale, who has been posting "spoilers" all over Twitter.

'The X-Files' first aired in 1993 and lasted for nine seasons. It went on to spawn two spin-off movies, which were 1998's 'The X-Files: Fight the Future' and 2008's 'The X-Files: I Want to Believe.' There was also a spin-off series 'The Lone Gunmen' featuring the show's resident conspiracy theory geeks.

The mini-series will reportedly revisit some of the show's successful episodes. A new episode is titled 'Home Again,' and is said to be the continuation of Season Two's 'Home.' The original episode features the grotesquely-mutated inbred family known as the Peacock Boys.

'The X-Files' will return to FOX on January 24, 2016.
